The South Asian Social Justice Network (SASJN) in Quebec was established by CASSA to bring together South Asian-serving organizations, community groups, leaders, service providers, and community members who are working to address social justice issues affecting South Asian communities across the province.

Over the past year, the Network has focused on building stronger connections within the community and creating spaces where people can come together to talk about the issues they are experiencing. Through regular community meetings and network gatherings — including upcoming sessions at the Teesri Duniya Theatre — members and community participants have shared their experiences and identified concerns related to systemic barriers, racism and discrimination, employment challenges, access to services, and community equity.

The Network is also creating opportunities for community members, organizations, and professionals to share resources, learn from one another, and collaborate on initiatives that support South Asian communities across Quebec.

SASJN Goals

  • Build stronger connections among South Asian-serving organizations and community groups across Quebec
  • Identify and better understand issues affecting South Asian communities
  • Create spaces for community members to share their experiences and concerns
  • Share resources, information, and knowledge among network partners
  • Strengthen collaboration between community organizations, professionals, and grassroots groups
  • Support community-led advocacy and action
  • Improve access to services, legal information, and community resources
  • Ensure South Asian community voices are included in conversations and decision-making

The Summit: June 2026 – Quebec

In June 2026, SASJN hosted its regional social justice summit in Quebec, bringing together community members, service providers, leaders, and community partners for a day of discussion, learning, and connection.

The Summit provided an essential platform for people to talk openly about challenges facing South Asian communities in Quebec, fostering cross-generational dialogue and solidarity to drive community-led transformation forward.

Capacity-Building and Community Gatherings

Building on the momentum of the summit and ongoing regional meetings, the Network is organizing further capacity-building sessions — such as upcoming gatherings scheduled for December 2026 — along with local collaborative events at spaces like the Teesri Duniya Theatre. These sessions continue to bring together community organizations, artists, workers, and advocates to make information, arts-based resistance, and support easier to access.

Access to Legal and Community Support

SASJN is actively working to expand practical support systems for community members across Quebec, connecting grassroots organizing with legal information and resources to help individuals navigate systemic challenges, understand their rights, and access available services.
