The Council of Agencies Serving South Asians (CASSA) launched it’s Environmental Justice Workshop Series, an exciting new initiative funded by Canadian Heritage and supported by the Indigenous Environmental Justice Project at York University, the University of Toronto Scarborough, Punjabi Community Health Services, Toronto Environmental Alliance, and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority.
CASSA held an introductory workshop geared towards the South Asian diaspora to learn and discuss Environmental Justice, its links to South Asian migration to Canada and settler colonialism, climate change, and Indigenous-led resistance. We are broadening important and urgent conversations around environmental action and holding space for the South Asian diasporic community to think about their place in environmental justice movements.
